For appeitzers: My sister served a beautiful Fall ColoredTexas Caviar with crackers as well as seasonal cheeses, & grapes.
Receipe for Texas Caviar :
1 pkg of frozen corn
2 cans of drained black beans
4-5 chopped sweet tomatoes
2-3 chopped avocado
1 large red onion chopped
1 bunch of finely chopped Cilantro
3 fall colored peppers chopped ( red, green, yellow or orange)
1 Tablespoon cumin
salt and pepper to taste
1 small bottle wishbone Italian Dressing
Juice from 3 limes
Chill for a couple of hours before serving, then serve on crackers, tostado chips or crusted bread–delicious

The Main Course : Chicken Vesuvio, Spinach Salad, Whole Grain Bread or Dinner Rolls , Fall Pasta salad with orange, red, yellow and green peppers.
Recipe for Chicken Vesuvio
1 2.5-3 pound chicken
4 peeled and cut potatoes
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 cloves minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/2 cup cooking sherry
1 cup chicken broth (see recipe below)
Toss chicken and potatoes with oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano. Place in baking dish skin side up. Bake at 375 for one hour or until chicken is tender. Remove from oven and place chicken in large frying pan. Add Sherry and Broth and simmer for five minutes. This receipe serves 4 so for a bridal or baby shower you will want to adjust the receipe for the number of guests you will be serving.
For Chicken Broth
use chicken neck and giblets
1 quart of water
2 tablespoons minced parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 rib of celery , sliced
Place chicken parts in a two quart saucepan. Add water, bring to a boil; reduce heat and skim. Add Parsley, salt, onion and celery. Cook over low heat for ninety minutes.

This game was great fun -we were able to play this as we ate and it served as a great icebreaker for people who were just meeting for the first time-
Peggy placed a 15 page (1/2 page paper) booklets on each table. One person at each table was instructed to pick up the booklet and read the 1st page aloud, after reading the first page, the second page is read by the person that it applies to and so on .
Here is how it goes :
Page 1: It’s time to get started Heres the first clue…….
Ask everyone at your table
To gather “round.
Open the pages one at a time,
Then follow the directions of each rhyme.
Now the gal at your table,
The youngest of age,
Can start by opening up the next page.
Page 2:
We don’t need to measure,
It’s easy to compare!
This book’s passed to
The one with the longest hair.
Page 3:
Don’t despair,
Here’s the next clue.
This must be passed to the
Lady with the Largest Shoe.
Page 4:
Keep on thinking.
Use your head.
Pass this on to the person
Most recently wed.
Page 5:
Now a rhyme neither for the young nor old,
And not for the wild or bold.
But to make this game seem fair,
Pass it on to the one with the shortest hair.
Page 6:
Now just hang in there
Don’t mean to make you wait.

With the anniversary closest

This game was great-lots of laughs and conversation.
After eating, we played one more game- “The Traditonal Toliet Paper Bridal Gown” game-
For this game, the host divides guests into small groups and gives each group 2-3 rolls of white toliet paper. One member of the group needs to volunteer to be “the bride”. The rest of the gals wrap the toliet paper around the ” volunter bride” to create a designer (toliet paper) wedding gown. This game provides lots of laughs and everyone from young flowergirls to grandparents can participate–be sure to take lots of pictures!!!
At the end of your Fall Shower you will want to thank you guest for coming with a small token of your appreciation-
